This summer, René Pape makes his highly anticipated return to the San Francisco Opera, as Philip II in Verdi’s epic masterpiece, Don Carlo<\/em>. Performances take place June 12, 15, 18, 21 & 24<\/a>, with a spectacular international cast including Michael Fabiano in the title role, Ana María Martínez as Elisabetta, Nadia Krasteva as Princess Eboli, and Mariusz Kwiecien as Rodrigo.<\/p>\n

Video selections from other productions of Don Carlo <\/em>can be seen via SFOpera’s website<\/a>, including a clip of Mr. Pape singing „Ella giammai m’amò.“ This remains a signature role for René, whose previous portrayals have been widely acclaimed by audiences and critics across the globe:“The other luxury casting was once again the presence of René Pape as the character of Philip II. René is also a featured soloist in a celebratory Gala Concert, honoring San Francisco Opera General Director David Gockley and his retirement from the company.
