This tour reprises Mr. Pape&rsquo;s critically acclaimed program from last fall&rsquo;s recital at The Metropolitan Opera, the first bass recital in 30 years at the Met. That &ldquo;<a href=\"..\/news\/newsitem.php?id=69\" target=\"_blank\">triumphant<\/a>&rdquo; and &ldquo;<a href=\"..\/news\/newsitem.php?id=69\" target=\"_blank\">powerful<\/a>&rdquo; program incorporated music in four languages, from a distinct variety of composers including Beethoven, Dvor&aacute;k, Mussorgsky, and Quilter, which will now be enjoyed by audiences throughout the continent. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Of his Met recital, Zachary Woolfe of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/10\/01\/arts\/music\/ren-pape-in-a-solo-recital-at-the-metropolitan-opera-house.html\" target=\"_blank\">The New York Times<\/a>&nbsp;stated:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Is there a singer on the Metropolitan Opera&rsquo;s roster more deserving of a solo recital on its stage than Ren&eacute; Pape, who received that honor&nbsp;<a href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/0\">on Sunday afternoon<\/a>? After nearly 20 years and 200 performances with the company, this German bass&rsquo;s steady, wine-dark voice and suave presence have become indispensable . . . Mr. Pape is elegantly restrained, a natural storyteller who draws you in slowly and carefully, yet confidently, rarely grabbing you by the lapels but effective, nevertheless, at making you listen . . .&nbsp;<strong>His final encore, &ldquo;If Ever I Would Leave You,&rdquo; from Lerner and Loewe&rsquo;s &ldquo;Camelot,&rdquo; summed up the recital: calm, burnished, decorous, gorgeous.<\/strong>&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pape&rsquo;s European tour begins on&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/iopera.es\/temporada-opera-2014-2015-a-coruna\/\" target=\"_blank\">January 9<\/a>&nbsp;in La Coru&ntilde;a as part of the Festival Galica Classics. On&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.teatroallascala.org\/en\/season\/recitals\/2014-2015\/rene-pape.html\" target=\"_blank\">May 10<\/a>&nbsp;he sings at Milan&rsquo;s renowned Teatro alla Scala,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.konzerthaus-dortmund.de\/event_details.html?eventid=220980\" target=\"_blank\">May 29<\/a>&nbsp;at the Konzerthaus Dortmund, and on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.opernhaus.ch\/vorstellung\/detail\/liederabend-rene-pape-08-06-2015-4300\/\" target=\"_blank\">June 8<\/a>&nbsp;at the Zurich Opera House.&nbsp; He is also featured in recital at the Berlin State Opera on&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.staatsoper-berlin.de\/de_DE\/calendar-2014-2015\/liederabend.12271110\" target=\"_blank\">June 21<\/a>, with frequent collaborator and acclaimed conductor Daniel Barenboim on piano.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This season, Ren&eacute; Pape travels across Europe on a recital tour with pianist Camillo Radicke.
