Recognized as the German equivalent of the Grammy Award, Pape will receive his third ECHO KLASSIK, this time in the category of \u201cBest Opera Recording of the Year (19th Century Music)\u201d, for his acclaimed contribution as Wotan on the Mariinsky Label\u2019s newest release of Wagner\u2019s <em>Die Walk\u00fcre<\/em> with the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe star of this recording is Ren\u00e9 Pape\u2019s Wotan, who not only thunders like a God, but most importantly shapes his narrations tastefully and with vocal colors.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Die Abendzeitung, M\u00fcnchen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Mariinsky Label\u2019s newest Ring-Cycle is cast with the finest Wagner interpreters of our time: Nina Stemme, Jonas Kaufman, and Ren\u00e9 Pape.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBass <\/em><em>Ren\u00e9<\/em><em> Pape brings his trademark silken smoothness to the role of Wotan\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(The Washington Post)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Washington Post<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Having already received ECHO KLASSIKS for his two solo albums, <em>Gods, Kings, and Demons<\/em> and <em>Wagner<\/em>, Pape now adds this award to a long list of accolades and prizes including two Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The official awards ceremony will take place on October 6th, 2013 in Berlin\u2019s Konzerthaus.<\/p>\n<p><em>Das Rheingold<\/em> with Ren\u00e9 Pape as Wotan will be released in September of 2013. <em>Siegfried<\/em> and <em>G\u00f6tterd\u00e4mmerung<\/em> will complete the Mariinsky Ring-Cycle in 2014.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The winners of Germany\u2019s 2013 ECHO KLASSIK Awards have been announced and Ren\u00e9 Pape is once again among them.
