Metropolitan Opera 2016/17 appearances

René Pape returns to The Metropolitan Opera next season as King Marke in a new production of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. This staging, directed by Mariusz Treliński, opens the Met’s 2016/17 season.
Nina Stemme sings Isolde, Stuart Skelton is Tristan, and Ekaterina Gubanova is Brangäne, with Sir Simon Rattle leading from the pit. Performances take place September 26 & 30 and October 3, 8, 13, 17, 24 & 27, with the October 8 performance receiving a live HD broadcast in theaters worldwide.
Mr. Pape also performs at the Met’s 50th Anniversary Gala Concert on May 7, a special event featuring favored singers from the company’s history, along with Maestro James Levine and The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus.
