December performances

René Pape has a busy end of the year. He sings in Berlin for most of it, with a short trip to Vienna to sing Sarastro in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte on December 22, 25, 27 and 29 alongside Jörg Schneider as Tamino, Hila Fahima as Königin der Nacht, Olga Bezsmertna as Pamina, Thomas Tatzl as Papageno and Adam Fischer on the podium. The December 29 performance is scheduled to be broadcast on Wiener Staatsoper Live and will also be shown on December 27 and 29 into the plaza next to the opera house.

He sings the last two performances as Mephistopheles in Schumann’s Scenes from Goethe’s Faust on December 14 and 17 and interspersed with them, he sings Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with Nadine Sierra on December 16 and 18.

After his Vienna appearances he returns to Berlin to sing in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 on December 31 and January 1, sharing the stage with Camilla Nylund, Katrin Wundsam and Simon O’Neill. All Berlin performances are conducted by Daniel Barenboim.
