René Pape stars as König Marke at the Bayreuth Festival

Before he finishes the run of Parsifal at the Bayerische Staatsoper, René Pape starts the performances of Tristan und Isolde at the Bayreuth Festival on July 27. He sings two more performances on August 24 and 28.

Joining René Pape as König Marke, one of his signature roles that has been characterised as “an international treasure” (Classical Source), are Stephen Gould as Tristan, Petra Lang as Isolde and Iain Paterson as Kurwenal. Christian Thielemann conducts.
