End of the year performances

On November 28, 29, and December 5, 20 and 27, René Pape returns to the Staatsoper Berlin to sing one of his signature roles, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte. The rest of the cast includes Julian Prégardien as Tamino, Serena Sáenz as Pamina, Albina Shagimuratova as the Queen of the Night, Florian Teichtmeister as Papageno and Victoria Randem as Papagena. Julien Salemkour and Alexander Soddy conduct the new production by Yuval Sharon.
He then travels to Austria to sing two recitals with frequent collaborator pianist Camillo Radicke. First, on December 16, they perform at the Wiener Staatsoper, followed by the Musikverein Graz on December 19. The program for both evenings features music by Mozart, Wolf, Schubert, Sibelius and others.
Lastly, to celebrate the new year, Mr. Pape stars as one of the soloists in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at the Staatsoper Berlin on December 31 and January 1. The other soloists are Elena Stikhina, Marina Prudenskaya and Andreas Schager, with Daniel Barenboim on the podium.
