‘Die Zauberflöte’ at Staatsoper Berlin

On March 5, 8 and 27, René Pape will return to Staatsoper Berlin as Sarastro in Mozart’s celebrated Die Zauberflöte. He has received much critical acclaim throughout the years for this signature role of his, with The New York Times writing “[He] sang the role of Sarastro with dignity and restraint, reserving the full suave beauty of his voice for the aria ‘In diesen heiligen Hallen.”

This stunning production by Yuval Sharon will also showcase the talents of Magnus Dietrich as Tamino, Victoria Randem as Pamina, Gyula Orendt as Papageno, Liubov Medvedeva as Papagena, Aleksandra Olczyk as Queen of the Night, Frederic Jost as the Speaker, Florian Hoffmann as Monostatos, Adriane Queiroz as First Lady, Natalia Skrycka as Second Lady, Anna Kissjudit as Third Lady, Stephan Rügamer as First Armoured Man, Žilvinas Miškinis as Second Armoured Man, Spencer Britten as First Priest and Frederic Jost as Second Priest. Kristiina Poska and Giuseppe Mentuccia share conducting duties.
