‘Tristan und Isolde’ at Wiener Staatsoper

On April 14, 18, 22, 27 and May 1, René Pape will reprise one of his signature roles as King Marke in Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde at Wiener Staatsoper. This new production by Calixto Bieito will focus on the trauma and inner turmoil of the star-crossed lovers.

The fresh take on the opera will showcase the talents of Andreas Schager as Tristan, Martina Serafin as Isolde, Iain Paterson as Kurwenal, Ekaterina Gubanova as Brangäne, Clemens Unterreiner as Melot, Daniel Jenz as Shepherd, Martin Häßler as Steersman and Josh Lovell as Voice of a Young Sailor. Philippe Jordan conducts.
