A return to Berlin as Sarastro and Méphistophélès

René Pape is featured in two signature roles this winter at the Berlin State Opera. He sings Sarastro in Mozart’s eternally popular Die Zauberflöte, with Stephan Rügamer as Tamino, Elsa Deisig as Pamina, and Elin Rombo sings the Queen of the Night, with Stefan Soltesz leading the Staatskapelle Berlin and Staatsopernchor. Performances take place November 29, December 5, 6 & 30, and January 3.

Pape sings Méphistophélès in Gounod’s Faust December 10, 12, 17, 20 & 23, in a Karsten Wiegand-directed production. Pavol Breslik is featured in the title role, with Krassimira Stoyanova as Marguerite, and Simone Young at the podium.
